After unveiling the SpaceX Starship prototype in Boca Chica Village, Texas in September, the 164 feet tall 200-tonne stainless steel prototype has finally seen its first launch, but not so fortunate.

More specifically, the top section of the shuttle broke off and flew away, causing the accident. While the large cloud of smoke seemed terrifying and dangerous, the CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk didn’t seem to be bothered.
The chrome-finished prototype, stated by Musk on Twitter, was just a test that will follow a better designed final version, viewed as a non-detrimental event and a step in the development process.

At the moment, SpaceX’s teams in Texas and Florida are working on Starship prototypes individually to help the company’s design strategy, and as a private and self-funded company, compared to the federal agency NASA, it’s much easier for Musk’s firm to follow this design process.
